The Five People You Meet in Heaven

Do you believe in afterlife, because if you do, this book will fully change your perspective of it. And if you don’t, then this book will change your aspect of that belief too. It is written by Mitch Albom.

Here’s a short summary:
When Eddie dies and his spirit glides up to heaven, he still feels very much alive. Even better, actually. When he arrives, he is met by the person that he thought most unlikely. The Blue Man, who tells him that he has now arrived in heaven and that the Blue Man is the first of five people who have played an important part in Eddie’s life. Some, who Eddie has never even heard of. Each person will tell his or her story to Eddie and teach him an important lesson (no, not physically). He falls in flashbacks, which is where we learn important parts of his long and painful life. I certainly thought that this book had an everlasting effect on me. Especially because it sends out so many subconscious messages on the importance of life, and how sometimes we do small things, and without our knowing, they affect someone else in a small or a big way. It also says that at times, making sacrifices is essential to both sides. It is a very inspiring book, which falls in under the category, Religious Fiction. It is suitable for all ages.....definitely!

  1. Dear Minakshi,
I read your review on 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven', because the title interested me. I was surprised to find the character named 'Eddie'. Your review is crisp. It will compel me to read the book for more than the two reasons that I mentioned above. Quite impressed that you are reading so many books. Happy summer holidays:)

  3. Hi Minakshi, I had to first tell your mom off for not mentioning your presence in the blogosphere. Beautifully written reviews. Your thoughts about the books have been very cogently put together. Mitch Albom is one of my favourite authors. Make sure you read his 'Tuesdays With Morrie' too.
